An Old Husbands Tale

My poor wife is sick. She's lying here asleep, wheezing softly. She looks so cute when she's asleep(try all the time!). Her enormous blue eyes are closed and peaceful. I wish she wasn't feeling to awful though. I gave her water and medicine when she briefly woke up this morning but I don't know if it really helped her. I can't ask her because she's asleep. I'm pretty sure she needs to eat though!

I find it very interesting that most home remedies that aren't proven are called old wives tales. There is one exception to this rule that comes to mind however. If you've ever heard the adage, "Feed a cold, Starve a fever", you might be interested to know that it is actually considered an old husbands tale! I never understood why this was until I became married and insisted on obeying this piece of advice whenever my wife or I got sick. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I was told this by my dad...

The truth of the matter, though, is that, whether you have a E. coli or Ebola, your body needs all the food it can get. It does no good to starve yourself either way. With this in mind, I'm about to head downstairs and make some food for my wheezing wife...
